Stop Banging! It’s NOT Your Door!
Many times, in life we will ALL face closed doors—doors that we hoped, anticipated, and expected to be open. However, the harsh reality of life often has many standing at closed doors feeling hopeless, angry, and abandoned leaving some people leaning, knocking, and banging on closed doors while grieving the possibilities of what they “thought” could have been.?
Many have experienced closed doors. It could be a job or business that someone was expecting a promotion or business opportunity, but suddenly the doors of opportunity were closed. It could be a family member that you anticipated would provide support, but you were greeted with unexpected betrayal. It could be something you planned or expected but suddenly doors are closed, and dreams are dried up like a raisin in the sun.
WE WILL ALL EXPERIENCE CLOSED DOORS.
How do we handle this harsh reality?
The story of Joseph shows us how to deal with closed doors (Genesis, Chapters 37-50). Joseph had a life filled with ordeals and triumph. He experienced closed doors from his brothers who betrayed him by selling him into slavery. Despite being a slave, he finds favor with Potiphar and works as his assistant; unfortunately, only to have that door closed because he was thrown into jail due to Potiphar’s wife’s false accusation. While in jail he interprets Pharaoh’s baker and wine taster dreams. The baker promised to put in a good word for Joseph when he was released. Once again, the doors of hope were closed because the baker forgot about Joseph for two years. However, Joseph was eventually remembered and used to interpret Pharaoh’s dream, which resulted in Joseph becoming second in command.
To make a long story short, despite the closed doors, God used him to save thousands of people from a famine including those who closed doors on him.

?So, Don… What’s your point?
?STOP KNOCKING ON DOORS THAT HAVE BEEN CLOSED. TAKE YOUR FOOT OUT OF A DOOR THAT’S CLOSING. Stop leaning on the door hoping things will change in your favor. Take the wedge out and LET IT SHUT!
?Like Joseph, the doors closed, or the delays are ALL part of the destiny God has for you. Keep on knocking and searching until you find YOUR door! Don’t hover around closed doors just to be tolerated, but step back and ask God where is your door of appreciation.?
?CLOSED DOORS ARE SOMETIMES GOD’S WAY OF SAYING THIS IS NOT A FIT FOR WHAT I HAVE FOR YOU. Joseph was rejected by his brothers and his job, but in spite of this, GOD positioned him for something better.
?So, what about you? Does God have something better for you? How will you know if you keep on leaning, grieving, and hovering near doors that have been closed.
