If you were the second richest person in the world, where would you be holidaying? Let’s face it, we all need and deserve a holiday (hope you’re listening, People’s Office!).?

Whether or not we can afford a holiday is up in the air but you know who can? Our Gujju bhai, Mr. Gautam Adani!

Last week, Mr. Adani, with a net worth of ~$147Bn, became the second richest person only behind Elon Musk. Adani started the year at 14th place, and in just 9 months jumped 12 places. That is the sheer scale of wealth Mr. Adani has been instrumental in creating!?

A lot of investment advisors give one advice for sure,?“Sure shot paise kamao, Adani pe lagao”.?(Investments are subject to market risks, please read the scheme related documents carefully?).

A college drop out, Mr. Adani started in the diamond industry but took a quick pivot to the mining and energy industry in the '80s. Eventually, Adani forayed into textiles, logistics, agriculture, defense, among a host of other sectors. This is quite similar to how startups usually pivot to find the product market fit (PMF).?

As of today, the Adani empire stretches from airports to data centers. Lately, with acquisition of Ambuja Cements, Adani has marked an entry in the cement industry as well. Growth has literally become the middle name of our Gujju bhai as is evident from these crazy feats: -

• From having a fortune of $10B in 2020, Mr. Adani grew his corpus of wealth to $137B in 2022?(13x growth)?
• Last month, he beat out Bernard Arnault (Chairman and CEO, Louis Vuitton) to become the first Asian to make it to the top 3 of the?Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
• Some cool assets under the Adani group’s belt include the?Mumbai Airport. Move over private jets as Mr. Adani holds the key to 6 entire airports!
• Recently the Adani Group made a hostile takeover attempt to acquire?1/3rd?of?NDTV. As they say,?“If you can’t change the news, buy it”?

We could argue about the nature of his decisions or government support all day long; but what’s important for us is what we take away from this journey of growth.?

One big takeaway from Adani Group’s performance is the vision of the leaders at the helm. It takes guts to imagine building an empire and actually being able to establish it. We should all learn the art of creating and growing business from Mr. Adani.
