In today’s ever changing world, it is extremely critical to be up to date with latest tools and technologies. When it comes to business critical systems, it is even more essential to survive and expand in a competitive business landscape.
Oracle Warehouse Builder tool was a powerful first generation ETL tool that helped organizations create comprehensive warehouses and reporting to supplement their ERP applications. Oracle Warehouse Builder 11.2 is a terminal release and no major enhancements are planned for the product.
OWB 11.2 continues to be available and supported by Oracle, and patches and bug fixes will continue to be offered at regular intervals. Oracle will continue to support OWB 11.2 for the full lifetime of Oracle Database 11g in accordance with Oracle’s Lifetime Support Policies for Oracle Database releases. Future database releases beyond Oracle Database 12c Release 1 will not be certified with OWB 11.2.
What Does this Mean?
- Oracle Warehouse Builder will no-longer be certified beyond Oracle 12c Release 1
- Oracle will not extend the functionality of the product any further, therefore some of the new and innovative will not be available.
- Extended support for the product ends in Jan 2018.
- Any NEW bugs in OWB, will not be addressed by Oracle Development.
What is the solution
Oracle Data Integrator
Oracle Data Integrator is a comprehensive data integration platform that covers all data integration requirements: from high-volume, high-performance batch loads, to event-driven, trickle-feed integration processes, to SOA-enabled data services. Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 12c, the latest version of Oracle’s strategic Data Integration offering, provides superior developer productivity and improved user experience with a redesigned flow-based declarative user interface and deeper integration with Oracle Golden Gate.
ODI 12c further builds on its flexible and high-performance architecture with comprehensive big data support and added parallelism when executing data integration processes. Additionally, ODI can be monitored from a single solution along with other Oracle technologies and applications through the integration with Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c.
ODI Cloud Service (ODICS)
Oracle Data Integrator is also available as a Cloud Service.
Just like the on-premises version, Oracle Data Integrator Cloud Service (ODICS) delivers high-performance data movement and transformation capabilities with its open and integrated E-LT architecture and extended support for Cloud and Big Data solutions. Oracle Data Integrator Cloud Service provides all of the functionality included in Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition in a single heterogeneous Cloud Service integrated with the Oracle Public Cloud.
If you are a user of OWB then you need to start factoring in ceasing reliance on this product and moving forward to a more integrated and flexible solution in ODI either on premise or now in the cloud.
