Have you been watching the One Show and the fabulous story of the Rickshaw Challenge (featured on Children in Need) ? There are some seriously brave young people who have cycled hundreds of miles in the bitter weather and in often grueling conditions that would challenge any able bodied person never mind those suffering with life-affecting illnesses and personal challenges.
Or how about the recently broadcast Pride of Britain awards (to my mind the most seriously uplifting television I have seen).
We are inundated daily with tales of tragedy, crime and man's inhumanity to man along with stories of prejudice and intolerance. There is certainly plenty of bad news around if you want to find it. I am, however, also constantly energized by how kind, thoughtful and inspirational people can be.
I try to always let others know when someone else has said something good about them. I'ts easy to do and we really do need to hear good news when we can. Let's all try in whatever way we can to spread a little light each day. A good starting point is obviously to let loved ones know how much you care, but most of us have quite a wide circle of contacts and life being short, take whatever opportunity you can to let others know when they have done well or made a difference in your life, however small it may be.
Can you share a story of someone who has inspired you?
