This Sticky Note-Pad Paid Our Rent for 2.5 Years in Just 64 Days

From September to November 2024, I hosted two small events in my Toronto home. Those two events brought in enough income to cover our rent for the next 2.5 years (yes, 30 months).

And no, I didn’t pack my place with a hundred people.

I hosted fewer than 10.

That’s it.

Here’s the kicker (and the thing that blew my mind): this small-scale model was way more profitable than the 15-30 person events I used to run.

Looking back, those big events were more about stroking my own ego than growing my bottom line.

If you’re running a business and want to create impact and profit, this kind of model could work for you too.

How I Made It Happen

---

I’ve been hosting small events since 2016, starting with casual dinner parties. Those grew into workshops, then two-day events featuring local entrepreneurs. Over time, one thing became crystal clear:

People crave connection.

With everyone glued to their screens and AI practically running our lives, face-to-face interactions feel more valuable than ever.

When you bring a group of like-minded people together in a safe, supportive space, incredible things happen.

So, I kept it simple.

From September - November 2024, I put together two small, no-frills events and invited just a handful of people (the key is having the right people in the room, not a high quantity of people just so the event 'looks big').

Out of 9 ticket buyers, 7 showed up.

From the revenue from ticket sales + revenue from offering on-going support, it was enough to cover my rent until May 2027.

It wasn’t rocket science—it was human connection.
