Sticks Like Sh*t!

Sticks Like Sh*t!

Did you know that Evostick make a glue named Sticks Like Sh*t?

No, neither did I until I ventured out to Homebase (It's staying in Maidenhead now thank Goodness!) and saw it on the shelf shouting "Pick me! Pick me!”

Well, I just had to try a glue that’s called “Sticks Like Sh*t”

Why did I need glue? Have you got forty years of your life to spare that you’ll never get back?

No?  I’ll shorten it.

Chinese Whispers

I think a lot of the problem was due to a bit of “Lost in Translation” or as I fondly refer to it as “Chinese whispers.”

So, “Please do ensure that the hook materiel is roller glued thinly onto the back board” became “Don’t bother using any glue at all, just stick the hook materiel on with a bit of double sided tape.”

If I hadn’t produced a set of stars whose main feature was to be continually pulled on and off a hook covered board, I wouldn’t have minded.  But then, I wouldn’t have had a product, and I wouldn’t be sat here telling you all about it!

As I did have that product, it was imperative that the hook materiel was securely fastened so....

Back to the drawing board

Three hundred boards!! That’s a lot of Sh*t!

The first job was to roll the double sided tape off with my index finger, which hurts like sh*t! Because the universe can have a warped sense of humour, an index finger is the only thing that gets the double sided tape off! I have blisters on my blisters!

Secondly, the back of the hook materiel was smeared in glue and  I really hoped that it stood up to its name!

The glue spread on really easily and I did wonder why the factory found this exercise so difficult. Cutting and then peeling off the double sided tape for each board seems far more of a faff!

I suppose the most difficult bit was to smooth the glued hook materiel onto the board.  Two times out of ten, at least, I found that the hook materiel bubbled up creating unsightly blisters - Yeah! More chuffing blisters!! They just wouldn’t disperse. I even tried ironing them out! But to no avail and I had to throw them out - with the iron! I needed a new iron anyway!

In the other eight out of ten times, the materiel stuck beautifully and looked really good and this stuff sticks! Whether it sticks like sh*t, I haven’t experimented, not sure I will to be honest!

It's all above board

And here is the finished product with yours truly!

If you want a job doing properly....

The board is finished of with a sheet of perspex to protect the hook materiel and keep it dust free in transit.

For effective use of My Mood Stars and to enable them to stick to the board, the removal of the perspex sheet is advised.

So, there you have it. Now you know what I get up to behind the scenes at Wendy Woo HQ!

I hope I haven’t board you too much - ( I couldn’t resist now could I?)

Now that's a headline that sticks!
