If your marketing efforts don’t embody all five of the above attributes, you’re not getting the results you want, the results you’re paying for.

?

Based on 40 years of creating successful strategies and campaigns for businesses nationwide, I can tell you with all certainty that 90% of your marketing suffers from a lack of one or more of those five things.

?

Consistency – defined as doing the same thing over and over the same way for a long period of time. Once your testing phase is over, and you know what works, give it a chance to take root and do the job. Most programs are abandoned just as they are about to take off. Have faith and keep going.

?

Repetition – there is no such thing as one-and-done in marketing. For messaging alone, it’s been shown to take between 7-15 “touches” of a prospect to even get their attention, and up to 30 hits before a distinct and memorable impression is made. Know why you remember that ad from last year’s Superbowl? Because they ran it for an additional 4 months afterward . . .

?

Multiplicity – be the same, in different places. Come at prospects from all angles, use different media, different timing, different placements, different contexts, at the same time, using the same message, the same creative, the same theme and the same brand attribute you showcase in any one of them. It works!

?

Persistence – stick around long enough to do the job, and don’t take no for an answer. Visitors bouncing off your CTA? Hit them again after they leave, or better yet don’t let them leave without another chance. Retarget EVERYTHING so it circles back to them repeatedly. Let them know you’ve got something they want.

?

Engagement – Make your efforts memorable by making them entertaining and interactive. Get them involved! You know that song that always gets you out on the dancefloor? How do you get there, guys? Your wife or girlfriend asks, or takes you by the hand, right? Does she really have to pull hard? Nope, just a little nudge to get you going. Take your prospects by the hand and ask nicely for them to get involved.

?

All of these things are industry agnostic, size irrespective, budget notwithstanding, growth-driven tenets that should be included in every marketing effort you make.

?

Try it, you’ll be amazed at the results if you just include these things.
