As a Fashion Stylist and Visual / Creative Strategist, I craft a strategic and intentional approach that promotes and supports a talent's long-term vision as an artist and image maker. With Wear We Are, I aim to share my experiences and highlight processes, projects, and individuals who inspire me.
The term "celebrity stylist" may be common, but it's a relatively new concept. You may have seen their work on the red carpet, particularly at high-profile events like the Grammy Awards. Unfortunately, at this year's event, fashion was a far cry from sophisticated. In the words of Dolly Parton, "it takes a lot of money to look this tacky."
Steve Lacy, a musician and producer nominated for several Grammy Awards and best known for his song "Bad Habit," stood out from the rest. Unlike many other celebrities, Steve does not work with a celebrity stylist. Instead, he collaborates directly with fashion designers to bring his unique vision to life. This is a hallmark of true artists like David Bowie and Grace Jones, who also believed in their creative visions and worked directly with like-minded individuals to bring them to life.
For his performance and red-carpet appearance at this year's Grammy Awards, Steve Lacy chose to wear Saint Laurent. His red carpet look was timeless and sophisticated, while his performance costume was reminiscent of Elvis Presley's iconic leather outfit from his '68 Comeback Special. This was not a comeback for Steve but rather a testament to his rising star status as a rockstar in his own right.

In a post-interview, Steve commented on his win; I'm just inspired to, you know, stay true to myself and keep on going, keep making stuff."??
