Steve Knowlton's Run for America

American Veterans and their children need and deserve our help. 22 or more former servicemen and women commit suicide every day, many leaving behind single-parent children. WHO will answer their cries for help?

According to Department of Defense statistics, 12% of all homeless people in America are Veterans. We wondered, “What can we do for those Vets and their children, too? While we don't have all the answers, we can shed light on the issues surrounding American Military Veterans, their families, and their children.

Our Children Are Forever Foundation, a grass-roots, 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation founded by Terry Hitchcock, whom many call “the ORIGINAL Forrest Gump” because he ran the distance of 75 marathons in 75 consecutive days, endorses Steve Knowlton’s Run for America that starts in August 2019. Steve will run across America - his THIRD TIME, over 3,000 miles from Portland, Oregon to New York City to share your voice and ours to help Vets and their children.

Terry Hitchcock and Steve Knowlton (a long-distance runner in more than 47 marathons and TWICE across America) were residents of Prior Lake, Minnesota when they began their amazing collaborations. Starting the morning of July 4, 2014, they ran together from Oceanside, California, through the dreaded Mojave Desert. Steve completed the whole run, his second time across America, arriving in Washington DC on his own. (Terry left the run in Arizona to help save his son’s life.)

Terry Hitchcock, entrepreneur, philanthropist, business consultant, and Air Force Veteran authored the successful book, American Business: The Last Hurrah? and several other books, including A Father’s Odyssey, the journal of his historic run read today in 27 countries and the basis for the acclaimed, award-winning film documentary My Run directed by (the late) Tim VandeSteeg and narrated by Oscar-winner, Billy Bob Thornton. Terry’s internet impressions have continued to rise past 66 million. Called “America’s Hero” for The Run, Terry has proven “Nothing is impossible;” and “The impossible is possible.”

Steve Knowlton, businessman, realtor, and long-distance runner, who calls himself ordinary, is extraordinary on all fronts. He has finished 47 marathons, completed over 10 ultra runs, and TWICE run across America! In 2010, Steve ran solo from Seattle, Washington to Key Largo, Florida, a run of 3,717 miles in 100 days, in support of research to find a Crohn’s Disease cure. (Steve has endured Crohn’s most of his life.) When an eighth-grader, Steve was inspired by Peter Jenkins’ book Walk Across America. His mother nurtured his spiritual strength, and, at 13, his father encouraged him to run the Grandma’s Marathon race with him in Duluth, Minnesota. Steve was the youngest runner to finish that race.

You can help by supporting Steve’s Run for America.

Run for America needs contributions to make it possible to get him from Florida to Oregon and then across America with his support team. With your help and the endorsement of Our Children Are Forever Foundation we can bring public and media attention to the needs of the children of our men and women of the Armed Forces... those serving yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Support Run for America and the Our Children Are Forever Foundation. Help us bring widespread awareness for American Military Veterans and their children now. Steve Knowlton’s goodwill run across America begins in August 2019. Your help is needed now.

For more information, contact Our Children Are Forever Foundation, 2803 Gulf to Bay Blvd., #148, Clearwater, Florida 33759. The foundation is currently a 501(3)(c) entity in the State of Florida and has applied for national-status IRS approval.

(NOTE: Steve’s completion of his THIRD-TIME run across America will place him on an elite, short list of only three runners who have run across America three or more times.)
