?Women and men alike can and should be proactive about their health care to minimize their risk of breast cancer. There are several steps you can take towards this end starting today!?

1.??????Know your family history!? If you have a history of breast or ovarian cancer, have a discussion with your physician to determine if genetic counseling and possible genetic testing is warranted. According to the American Cancer Society, most women (85 percent) that develop breast cancer do not have a family history of this disease. However, having a mother, sister, or daughter with breast cancer almost doubles a woman’s risk. Having two of these relatives with breast cancer ?increases the risk about three-fold.
