The steps that make the job search easier
When I first meet with many of my clients they talk about different job titles they are considering and many ask if they should send over their list of open job postings they are considering. My answer: not yet!
We are taught to think primarily about the titles of jobs or the company we want to be in. We think?do I want to be a doctor, a lawyer, a designer, or an entrepreneur??But rarely think about all the pieces that go into those roles?and?the thousands of different versions of those jobs.
I had a lot of fun putting together my?online course and wanted to show you all a peek into some of the content we covered.
To find your calling and a new job that’s aligned with you, you need to cover each step of the below:
And what do most of us do? We naturally do what we’ve been trained to do — search online for job postings. We just go straight to the top, the tip of the iceberg, that doesn’t take into consideration everything that’s needed to get to that point.
And then what happens? Usually since job requirements are a picture of the ideal candidate and not the actual person that is hired, we feel unqualified and demoralized that we couldn’t get a new job. Or worse we don’t see anything we are interested in.
If we move forward to a new job and it doesn’t work out, we are frustrated, unhappy, or head into a larger life crisis of questioning ourselves completely and wondering if we ever even liked [insert your topic: writing, helping people, science, etc…] ever to begin with. Society doesn’t help with this either.

I’m saying all this not to make you feel worse, but to explain why you may have been feeling bad. It’s not you! It’s the process. Start at the bottom of the pyramid and it will be much, much easier.
As your life changes, come back to this and re-evaluate, before heading into the question of what’s next.
Have your values changed?
Your non-negotiables?
Do you need more of something else in your life?
That slight pause will make all the difference!
