Steps to change the packing for centrifugal slurry pumps
People need to change the packing after the slurry pump working for sometime. Because when the pump working, the shaft rotation will generates high temperature, which causes certain components in the packing to volatilize or carbonize and form a leakage gap.?Thus they pump may have leakage and cannot work well.
Replacing?the packing,?there are many details worth paying attention to!
1. Select the appropriate packing according to the pump model.
2. Stop working the slurry pump first, then replace the packing
3. Close the inlet and outlet valves of the pump, open the vent valve and the drain valve, release the residual pressure in the pump, and prohibit pressure operation.
4. Remove the sealing packing gland adjustment screw and remove the gland
5. Remove?the old packing?and clean the stuffing?box thoroughly.
6. Check the wear?situation?of the shaft sleeve surface.
7. According to the outer diameter of the sleeve, cut the new packing as required and add it to the packing box one by one
8. After adding the new packing, put on the packing gland and tighten the adjusting screw evenly
9. Turn the wheel 3-5 times to check the tightness of the sealing packing and whether it is laborious to turn the wheel.
10. Open the pump inlet valve and start the pump for trial operation according to the operating procedures for starting the pump?
