Introduction

Sunday morning is a cherished time for family, slow breakfasts, and occasionally delving into the Sunday paper magazine. This winter morning, two articles catch my eye, both about life changes: a 37-year-old starting post-grad studies and a 50-something reflecting on the virtues of curiosity and intentional living.

Reflecting on my own journey, I realise that somewhere in my late 30s and early 40s, life changed almost imperceptibly. Many small decisions and realisations led to significant transformations in my mindset, motivation, and methods, resulting in a drastically different life. My life moved from focusing on accumulation and settling down to embracing curiosity and intentional living, finding joy in new experiences and valuing and living in the present moment. A solo and sometimes nerve wracking journey on a round the world plane ticket was a big catalyst for change.

Reading about the academic pursuits and the embrace of curiosity resonates with my own story. These narratives highlight the importance of continuous learning, intentional living, and finding fulfillment in everyday life.

In this article we explore how we can step up to a more intentional and fulfilling life. Mid winter is a great time to reflect and plan to redirect our springtime energies.
