Stepping out of your comfort zone doesn't have to feel lonely

Trying something new for the first time can feel very much out of our comfort zone.
When I decided that I no longer wanted to work full-time for an employer, and instead go freelance with my HR project work and coaching, I will admit it felt very scary. It was not something that I had done before, and I knew there would be a lot to learn and many possible mistakes to be made along the way.
But I did know why I wanted to do it, and that was very important to me, and also what kept me going at times. I am passionate about HR, and I love helping others to learn and grow. From working with a coach, and also training to be one, I have learned that when we try something new, the reason we often struggle to get started is because of the stories we tell ourselves. “I am not good enough”, “I am not experienced enough”, or even “I don’t know enough to do that”.
Sound familiar?
I get it, change is hard. I have been there.
But you don’t have to go through it alone. As a full-time HR professional, I was often the person employees would come to when they needed support and encouragement. I prided myself on being that approachable yet impartial HR that was there to support them, help them gain perspective, and enable them to learn and grow. Since leaving that environment, I realised I missed this connection with the employees. But it dawned on me during a coaching session that with all my years of experience in HR and business (predominantly agency life), I still had a lot to share that could help employees thrive in the workplace.
I am a coach, and I understand the challenges that employees face when they start a new role or become a people manager for the first time. There are performance and mindset shifts that need to be made, and doing this alone could take much longer and feel much harder to achieve. I also understand the business needs and expectations, so I can see it from both sides, which could be really valuable insights for an employee who is feeling stuck.
