Stephen Salamunovich, Recording Rig Demo, "Cruel"

After having to decline friends who've asked, "Can I send you a file to play on?" I've finally bitten the bullet and set up a home recording studio. I'd been resisting the massive learning curve and hassle of figuring out all the bells and whistles and always preferred to show up at a recording studio where an engineer knew what to do. But those days are rare if ever in this digital age. It took me a while to do all the research on equipment, software and people to assist. But I think it's finally at a point to be able to start recording. So I did this pass on a Toto tune called "Cruel" that I thought worked with the great snare drum that Gregg P Keplinger built for me. I also want to thank the following accomplices: Jerry Garcia for the beautiful custom drum-kit he made for me, Wade Reeves for helping me set the stuff up, Michael Shrieve for hipping me to Don Gunn who did a great job turning the knobs and faders that I'll probably never touch again! Stan and Jerry Keyawa from Pro Drums back home for the supply of sticks and heads, Rudy and Chris Hankins from Bennett Drum Studio for the tremendous amount of advice, equipment (especially my Dunnett brass snare drum) Scott Fowler for hipping me to the UE in-ear-monitors that have made an ENORMOUS difference, David Michael Frank for tutoring me in Logic ProX (and in particular), my main Mensch Scott Gross for the great support and the connection that easily spans the country between Florida and Seattle, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, my amazingly patient wife Sheila for putting up with such a noisy husband....
