Stephen Gill’s Sufi Sonnet 19

I come in the image of my maker as a poet to paint how your long wavy hair ruffles by the evening breeze. Your clear conscience abides in the animation of this abode of actions where your presence frees the fragrance of fulfillment to grow and wrinkle with the earth. The birds applaud gracious purity in your appearance as do the air. The boughs that bear fruit are pruned for our loyalty. I shall exalt your simplicity in my temple of riches in this valley of artists. How to attune with your lofty soul reveals me your mystery to unroll.
