Step up to the Plate

Step up to the Plate

Hi everyone!

Here's another American expression deriving from baseball:

'Step up to the plate'.

Have you heard it before?

Firstly, what's the plate?

It's a real plate marking the batter's position.

Batters step up to the plate when it's their turn to bat.

It's a good expression to be used at work too. In work context it means:

  • to take action
  • to do one's best
  • to volunteer

eg: We need somebody to be in charge of organizing the company holiday party. Who'd like to step up to the plate and start working on this project?

Try to use it today and next week when you can and let me know how it goes.

Don't hesitate to message me to book a free 30-minute strategy session if you'd like to know more.

Enjoy your lunch! :-)
