Step out of your comfort zone: My top 5 reads in 2018
2018 has been a transformational year. It brought with it one challenge after another both professionally and personally. What that meant was a million opportunities to grow. Read and heard a few amazing books too, and glad that I stepped out of my comfort zone, in every way and challenged myself to learn something new! So here's my reading list from 2018:
1. The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg: What is that one small thing you can change in your day to change your life? My biggest takeaway from this amazing amazing book was to go for that "small win" and not get overwhelmed by the huge challenges ahead of me.
2. Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance by Angela Duckworth
Simple yet extremely effective. This book was an introspection on a thought we often have about why talent plays such a small role in success! Almost 30, and now I am learning the value of "showing up" and not taking failure seriously.
3. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson: Super relatable and full of anecdotes that are so relevant to us "entitled" Millennials.
4. The Millionaire Next Door: The Surprising Secrets of America's Wealthy: This one can be quite a life-changing book for someone who has been as financially illiterate as I have been. A must-read for anyone who wants to create wealth (pretty much everyone), this one can be really an eye-opener.
5. We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie: Short, simple, to the point. I'm glad I read this so I can participate in arguments about the "F-word" in a calmer fashion. A special must read for those cynical about the #MeToo movement and it's importance/relevance.
That's my top 5. What did you read the year?
I read #3 and #5 in 2018, too. I just moved Charles DuHigg's book to my must-read list 2 weeks ago:) Happy 2019!
