In Step // Galatians 5:25
By Mark Jordan
Galatians 6:25 (NIV) | Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
I have never been real fleet of foot and envied those who were, particularly when I was a kid. Our neighbor wanted to help me run as fast as him one day, so he took me by the arm, holding onto me, and said, “RUN!” I found myself running faster than I ever knew I could. I’m sure he ran slower than he was used to, but meeting in the middle, so-to-speak, was exhilarating for me. That might be kind of a crude example, but it’s exactly what comes to mind when I think about keeping in step with the Spirit. There is no way I could do so under my own power, so the Spirit helps. True, the Spirit isn’t moving as quickly as it can otherwise, but the lesson is in the relationship…in the connection.
