Step back and take 8 fresh looks

2020 has been tough for just about everyone. Taking a little time to try new perspectives can help. Here are 8 questions I've been enjoying. Please add your own if you're finding helpful ways to see more clearly.

1 - Unrecognised assets

What new categories of asset are now available to you? Can you turn someone else's problem (surplus stock, supply chain issues) into a solution?

2 - Organisational gaps

What parts of your organisation - or other organisations - are now unable to fulfil their previous functions as a result of remote working, changing market conditions, staffing or technical change?

3 - International differences

On the internet, nobody knows you're a dog - or working in another country. What opportunities are there for you to work internationally - which markets need your skills now more than before?

4 - Technology change

These changes are the ones most frequently commented on. Remote working, AI etc etc. What can you do now that you couldn't do before?

5 - Attention economy and purpose

Are changes in the attention economy creating opportunity for you? Will an increased emphasis on your purpose help you win hearts and minds that were previously not interested / reachable?

6 - Unmanaged risks

What risks - previously unseen or non existent - are threatening your organisation? What new steps can you take to mitigate them?

7 - New alliances

Who can you now work with who was previously beyond your reach or group of stakeholders?

8 - Magic

What transformations are now possible that were not before? When you step back from the detail, can you become an alchemist or a magician?

Good advice! Sometimes it's worth taking a pause and looking at everything from a different angle. Easy to get dragged into tunnel vision, especially when working from home and no quick way to quickly bounce ideas off people.
