Are Stem Cells the Ultimate Game-Changer in Cardiology?
I always wondered why don't we see stem cell therapy approved as a treatment in the cardiology societies' guidelines! Do they offer hope or hype? Do we have enough evidence on their safety and efficacy? Did they make a difference in the management of heart failure and intractable coronary disease? ??
This week, we interviewed Dr. Yahia Kiwan, an esteemed cardiologist and a pioneer in stem cell research, who shares his invaluable insights on the transformative potential of regenerative medicine in cardiovascular care. ??
From explaining the science behind stem cells and their regenerative capabilities to discussing the latest clinical trials and ethical considerations, Dr. Kiwan covers it all. Whether it's the efficacy of stem cells in treating post-myocardial infarction or their potential applications in dealing with resistant angina and heart failure, this discussion is both informative and inspiring.
Tune into this episode to learn about:
- The different sources of stem cells ??
- Current and future applications of stem cell therapy in cardiology ??
- Real-life success stories showing the life-changing impact of this therapy ??
- The regulatory landscape and ethics surrounding stem cell research ??
For cardiologists eager to delve deeper into this field, Dr. Kiwan highlights the American Board of Regenerative Medicine Fellowship Program, https://www.ambrm.org which provides a comprehensive curriculum on regenerative cardiology. ??
Join us as we explore the future of cardiology and the promising field of regenerative medicine. Available now on all major podcast platforms. ???

6 个月Yes Stem cells work. I have tried injecting them in few patients with dilated cardiomyopathy and fibrosed myocardium proved with cardiac MRI. 3 months post bypass surgery , patients EF markedly improved and Previous Akinetic areas started to move. I am NOT really sure what happened as it needs very extensive research to prove that scientificly and evidence based but what I am explaining here is a true real life results in few patients who were rejected by other surgeons. Maybe the myocardium was hibernating or maybe it is true that stem cells are game changer! Still needs a lot of work to prove it!

6 个月Dr. Hussien Hishmat that’s fascinating thanks alot for the insightful podcast! Tackling the indications was impressive to know about especially backed up with all those clinical trials and success stories. Thanks to Dr. Yahya Kiwan for a worthfull discussion. Regenerative medicine is no more in the horizon, being regulated and at hand already in some treatments tells us that’s also coming in cardiology too, and it’s only a matter of time before it’s soon in the guidelines. Bright future it is!
