STELLA ROOFLIGHTS INSPIRE AT THE OLD BYRE

STELLA ROOFLIGHTS INSPIRE AT THE OLD BYRE

The Old Byre in Blaston, Leicestershire, is home to Andy and Carolyn Miros. The property, dating circa 1870, was originally two separate single storey cow sheds and part of the neighbouring Pastures Farm.

?Today the two buildings have been cleverly connected by a feature walkway, which separates the main living space from the guest suites and master bedroom.

The renovation has certainly been a labour of love for the Miros family, with significant internal and external works required from the outset.

?While much of the original brickwork remained structurally intact, external repointing and some rebuilding was required due to decades of weathering. However, major works were required to replace the old asbestos cement sheeting roofing and corrugated plastic roof windows.

?The roof on both barns had to be completely replaced, with new supporting timbers and finished with new welsh slate tiling.

A major feature in the new roof are the stunning Stella rooflights, comprising four bespoke stainless steel pitched rooflights installed in the utility room, guest bedroom and the master suite dressing room and ensuite. A further bespoke frameless flat rooflight was chosen for the kitchen.?

The entire build has been completed to an exceptionally high standard, with a beautifully designed open plan kitchen and living area which maximises the stunning views overlooking the beautiful countryside towards the neighbouring town of Market Harborough.

Carolyn and Andy have been meticulous in their approach to the renovation, undertaking careful research on each element of the build.

?This is particularly true of the four rooflights located throughout the building, which not only maximise the amount of natural daylight entering their home, but also preserve the original appearance of the building from the outside.

From the inside the rooflights are finished with an American ash hardwood liner, which provides a high quality finish in-keeping with other elements of the build.

?The high specification triple glazing, with self-clean and solar control, achieve excellent thermal performance in the winter while helping keep the building cool in the summer months.

Carolyn said: “When it came to the rooflights, it was a question of price, quality and meeting the stipulations of the local conservation officer.

?"Stella Rooflight ticked all the right boxes for us and we are delighted with the results.

?“We knew we had made the right choice when our highly experienced roofer commented that he had never seen such exceptional quality rooflights!”
