Stelcatec saves project

Steelpaint's new Stelcatec, isocyanate-free, moisture cure PU, surface tolerant, all weather coating system saved a paint refurbishment project on two footbridges across the Thames at Teddington.

The originally specified epoxy coating system failed to work under the weather conditions during this winter. This seriously delayed the start of the project. Finally it was decided to switch to the Stelcatec system after which the coating works were finished without any delay.

The coating system can be applied up to 98% relative humidity and cures down to minus 5 degrees Celsius. Even under these conditions the drying times are extremely short. The preparation and application was all done by rope access by CAN. An extra advantage for rope access projects is that Stelcatec is a single-pack technology.

Recoat UK Ltd is the distributor for Steelpaint products in the United Kingdom. The system is currently being tested to obtain Network Rail approval.
