The Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2019 from the Department of Culture Media and Sport showed that around a third (32%) of businesses report having cyber security breaches or attacks in the last 12 months. As in previous years, this has been much higher, specifically among medium businesses (60%), large businesses (61%) and high-income charities (52%). Among this 32 per cent of businesses, the most common types are: phishing attacks (identified by 80% of these businesses) others impersonating an organisation in emails or online (28% of these businesses) viruses, spyware or malware, including ransomware attacks (27% of these businesses).
When a breach occurs, your organisation has been the subject of a cyber crime and it is important to react to this crime accordingly. Stega’s Security Forensics Service allows you to capture and preserve all security activities to find exactly what happened, whenever it happened, for policy compliance and fast, effective incident investigation.
The evidence that is gathered can then be passed onto regulators and law enforcement bodies for them to be able to pursue criminal charges against any identified criminal attackers of the impacted organisation or individual. This is done by detecting, harvesting and then analysing all the potential evidence of cyber crime from computers, networks and other associated information and IT equipment. This can include laptops, mobile phones and tablets, or other data storage processing devices.
Stega’s Security Forensic Service will aid your organisation in piecing together the evidence and investigating data breaches and security incidents that will likely be used to prove charges against those responsible for the breaches.
