Stepping into your own individuality and letting go of the past
Our old identities can feel difficult to break free from. Many of us are putting in the work to recognize limiting beliefs and take a monumental leap forward in our own independence. As we attempt to step into our own identity, we learn new things about ourselves, but it’s nearly impossible to grow into a new identity instantaneously—so, in fits and starts, we grow and then sometimes retreat back into our old identity. Intuitively and consciously, we may even recognize that this old identity doesn’t serve us. But this identity feels familiar. It’s something we can go back and hide in. Our old identities can feel safe.
Hiding in our old identity doesn’t help us. Every second of every day leaves a piece of who we were behind. When we anchor into our old identities, we energetically try to cut the new parts of ourselves off to fit into who we were.
Humans are heavily sensitive and empathetic creatures, whether we acknowledge it or not. Radical self-acceptance is needed to let go of old identities and accept what is.
Here’s something to consider. The weight of carrying a false identity, constructed from insecurity and ego, can be overwhelming. The world ALREADY sees you for who you are. People will either choose to accept you or they choose to reject you. This is beyond your control and will always be out of your control. ?For those who we feel reject us, as humans we tend to let this consume us and hold up an image of ourselves that will allow them to accept us. This false image consumes us and takes away our ability to connect with others.
Accept what is. Because what is … isn’t so bad. You have always been whole and complete. #intogether ?
