Steelcase Foundation releases its 2022 annual report, highlights nearly $6 million in community giving

The Steelcase Foundation today released its 2022 annual report, highlighting nearly $6 million in annual giving through early-stage operations, multi-year and planning grants, matching gifts and more.

Grant recipients include more than 80 groups whose work aligns with the foundation’s goal to increase access to quality, public education and cultivate communities that create conditions for children of all ages to thrive. Grantees remain focused on driving social change through placed-based programming and services.

“This work is urgent, and no one person or group can solve the problems within a community alone. By partnering with community organizations at all levels, we are able to recognize the weight of the work our partners do and adapt to support them to the best of our ability,” said Steelcase Foundation President Daniel Williams.

Grantees include Michigan State University, which was awarded a one-year, $29,853 grant to establish a Research-Practice Partnership with four districts within Kent ISD and researchers from MSU’s Education Policy Innovation Collaborative. They will be working to understand the implementation and overall effects of social emotional and restorative practice programming taking place throughout the county.

Other recipients, like the STEM Greenhouse, were awarded a five-year, $500,000 partnership to bring STEM Scholars 2.0 to Innovation Central High School in Grand Rapids, with the goal of developing a climate of inclusion in STEM and a culture of high academic standards and college expectations for all students.

“The stories we’re able to share in this annual report show just how incredible our community partners are, and how valuable their work is,” said Williams.
