Stealth on steroids
Steganography is an old technique for stealthy messaging that has been around for some 2,500 years, and is now haunting us in our modern-day Social Media interactions. Steganography exploitation is rapidly becoming the stealth Command & Command channel 'de jour'. Organisations that are seemingly do everything they can to keep attacks at bay - but are still getting hit by ransomware, covert data leaks, or malvertising, to name a few - should look no further than their social media conduit.
So what should organisations that are leveraging the power of social media content - in our now digital society - do to protect themselves?
John, there is little overhead - its about the same as it would take to display the image. There are no 'decisions' to make - we process every image in the same way, irrespective of whether it contains Steg or not. This is why we believe its the only viable approach to defeating unknown content threats going forward.
