Answering the Question "Why Isn't My Marketing Working?" | Helping Businesses Grow with Clear Messaging and Websites That Generate Leads
Steady.
I’ve never related to the whole concept of a “word of the year”, but my brain keeps coming back to this word; steady.
Listen, I won’t insult you by trying to recap 2020 in a few sentences. You were there, you know what went down. Going into 2021 I’m just trying to be...steady.
See, I’m a person who loves to make big, audacious goals and jump into them with every bit of energy and excitement I can muster. This, no shock can lead to lots of burnout. And that’s ok, I can handle burnout. But, maybe just not this year.
While my business did very well in 2020, I am still exhausted and overwhelmed. Nearly a year of minimal support for our special needs child has really taken a toll and I simply do not have the energy or excitement to jump into anything audacious. I definitely don’t have the energy to pull myself from the excitement/burnout cycle.
And that’s why I keep coming back to steady.
Will I accomplish big things this year? Yes.
But, this time, instead of letting my goals run away with me, I’m going to try a new approach. One foot in front of the other, following a plan, steadily making progress.
What Steady Looks Like
I usually start the year with several big goals in mind...new offerings and product ideas... but this year I’m focusing on three things:
- Helping our clients generate more leads through sales funnels (if you don’t have or don’t know what a sales funnel is, you need one. Comment or message me and I’ll tell you how we can help)
- Delivering effective and beautiful turnkey websites so that business owners can stop trying to DIY their site and go back to focusing on what they do best.
- Teaching people how to write clear, effective content so that their websites actually help grow their business.
Everything I do in my business this year should support these three objectives, and if a task doesn’t, then I need to stop doing it. Because focusing on these objectives will help me continue to steadily move my business forward, continue to grow revenue, and help our clients do the same.
What’s Your Steady?
What does steady look like for you?

I sincerely wish each of you a prosperous, peaceful, and steady 2021. If I can help you in any way, please reply here and I’ll help or connect you with someone who can.
My best always,
Heather
PS. Do you have an end-goal you’re working toward? Making steady progress to the day you sell or pass on your business? If you don’t have a plan, or have any clue how to start creating a plan, I highly recommend checking out my colleague’s new owner education program: Get a Grip on the Value of Your Business.
You have the opportunity to join a group of like-minded business owners to learn just what matters when it comes to building value in your business and how to start making steady progress. The best thing is, even if you aren’t ready to sell your business everything you learn will make your business more profitable AND more enjoyable to run. This education helped make 2020 one of my best years running Blue Steele Solutions. (If you’re an advisor, you can use this program to help educate your own clients, too). Click the link and request more information or just reply here and I’ll make an introduction.

4 年I love this Heather. Simplifying your focus and your tasks to just support that focus -- perfect. (I also love that you make big audacious goals sometimes! It reminds me that we're all different in our approach and to find what works best for us. AND that that can change for us personally over time.)
