According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 7.9 million U.S employees are multiple jobholders - having 2 or more jobs with multiple organizations.?

Framed another way, about 4.9% of 158 million workers in the U.S. live each day shuffling between several positions as they try to make ends meet.?

We continue to live through uncertain times. The AI revolution, the looming global recession, the evolution of work in an era of post-pandemic disruptions and the rising cost of living are just some of the many challenges we face as a global society.?

As we navigate these complex and interconnected challenges, it's essential that we work together to find sustainable solutions that prioritize the well-being of individuals. Especially the young workers who may still be learning how to manage their personal finance while living the lifestyle they are accustomed to living.?

If you are a multiple job holder, here is how to work an extra job without losing your sanity in the process:

  • Remember Your Goal and Set Realistic Expectations: You work hard for a reason. So, never forget your “why”. This will keep you going when it’s hard.?

However, don't try to overwork yourself by taking on more than you can handle. Be sure to set goals that are achievable.

  • Organize your schedule and manage your energy. You have a lot to do for each job. Don’t miss anything or get too stressed. Use a calendar or a planner to remember your tasks and deadlines. Plan ahead and be ready for anything.

  • Set boundaries: Working multiple jobs can make you burn out. Decide what is important and what is not for each job. Tell your employers and co-workers what you can and can’t do. Say no to extra work that doesn’t matter. Also, take time for yourself to rest and have fun.
  • Prioritize self-care: It's easy to neglect self-care when juggling multiple jobs, but it's important to prioritize it. Take care of your physical and mental health by eating healthy, getting enough sleep, and engaging in activities that bring you joy. Remember, It's important to always take breaks throughout the day.?
