Staying Motivated When The World Is Burning

Three weeks ago, an event that should have been the pinnacle of my career achievements transpired: the publishing of my very first book Doubt to Certainty . However, the joy and pride I anticipated were promptly overshadowed by the heart-wrenching news from #Gaza. Being an #Egyptian, the suffering and resilience of our #Palestinian neighbors are deeply personal and a sorrow that reverberated in my very soul. Amid such dire global circumstances, a daunting question arose: How can one focus on adding real #value and making an #impact when it feels as though the world is in turmoil? I don't mean to present myself as an instructor; I am merely a fellow traveler who is wading through the same turbulent waters, seeking clarity amidst the chaos.

I have spent over 5 years in the war zones of the Middle East trying to help less fortunate people, between 2012 and 2017. The more I reflect on this transformational experience, the more the understanding of the coexistence of #empathy and #passion becomes a cornerstone for us. The achievements we passionately chase and the personal milestones we meet don't diminish our #ability to resonate with the world's pain. In contrast, they amplify our capacity to #empathize, understand, and ultimately, #act. Your success—be it in your profession, a personal endeavor, or a lifelong dream—equips you with the tools, the platform, and the influence to create change.

If choose to immerse yourself in your work, view it not merely as an escape but as a conduit. Every field, every domain of expertise, holds within it the potential to push boundaries, instigate change, and set exemplary standards. When we continuously strive for excellence and innovating in our respective areas, we demonstrate resilience, hope, and the immense potential of human spirit. We are strong, and let us not show otherwise.

Why? Because we stand #together. In times of overwhelming global grief, connecting with each other takes on paramount importance. Reach out, share your inner #conflicts, and #communicate the dichotomy of feeling personal elation amidst global distress. The strength and wisdom that emerge from collective discussions and shared emotions are immeasurable. Such interactions solidify our understanding, offering comfort and assuring us that we are not alone in our struggles. This creates a ripple effect. You see, shared emotions lead to collective action, and consequently magnify the impact manyfold. Collaborative initiatives make significant strides in support of causes that resonate deeply with us. As long as the conversations are constructive and practical, they are good conversations to have.

However, while words offer solace and understanding, action serves as a balm for our restless souls. It's imperative to let our #empathy guide our actions, to transform our feelings of helplessness into constructive steps. Every one of us, irrespective of our profession or skills, has the power to contribute. Support humanitarian efforts, raise awareness, offer your unique skills to aid causes close to your heart. The potential impact of even a small act can be profound, creating ripples that inspire countless others.

Feeling that the world's weight rests on our shoulders, it's crucial to acknowledge when it's becoming too much. It's not a sign of weakness but rather a testament to our #humanity. Whenever the burden feels insurmountable, reach out. Professionals, support groups, or even a simple conversation with a trusted friend offer a fresh perspective, and help us recalibrate and regain our #strength. I am personally available and open to chat if you need someone to talk to. This is where you can book us for a virtual vent-out session.

You know what, in the face of adversity, our #character is not just tested—it's defined. It's during these challenging times that we discover our true potential. Our #empathy, #passion, and #determination serve as the guiding lights, illuminating even the most shadowed #paths. I have personally made the decision to keep my focus and full attention of building what 'they' are destroying. I cannot (directly) build the houses they've destroyed or bring back the lives they've stolen, but I can help restore the hope, motivation, and strength they are trying to take control of. I am here if you want to talk.

Let us stay strong.

That’s definitely a form of help for sure…I was thinking about what’s being destroyed, deep deep down, and you’re right, the distractions and other things very subtly happening… thanks for sharing this.

This is such a fitting reflection for how many of us, me included, are feeling as we live our lives while such sadness and chaos are tearing other's world apart.
