STAYING DRIVEN ON YOUR SELF ACCEPTANCE
From our personal to professional lives, have we moved forward in accepting our authentic selves? Or do we fret about the things we feel we cannot change over those things that may not be important in the long run? Questions on this spectrum that most of us internally ask is, “What and how can I do this better?”
We need to make our “this” our vision for a new mission. With the aid of technology at our fingertips, we would assume we now have access better resources to learnings in the areas of “accepting ourselves” and that none of us would stay too long in a state of “lack of self-awareness”. You would think anyway. However, in many aspects, within our own personal and professional communities we continue to “carry” rather than “conquer” the former beliefs, attitudes, and coping mechanisms that we initially learned and inherited to challenge ourselves in more productive and healthy ways. Making a commitment in a direction that will lead you closer to that “acceptance” state is a key start and taking a vow that it’s never too late.
3 things to stay on a driven path of building acceptance while simultaneously supporting your focus and tuning out negative noise that can make all the difference are:
- DEVELOP A SET OF EMOTIONAL AND BEHAVIORAL MANTRAS – Take a personal emotional inventory by creating a list - what’s your purpose both personal & professional? Develop an outline with the metaphorical meanings and key personal statements to live by.
- CONTINUE TO WORK ON YOUR STRENGTHS, YES NOT YOUR WEAKNESSES! – Building a plan to cultivate to higher levels regarding your strengths, will automatically shift your weaknesses and keep you in an attitude of moving and striving forward.
- MANAGE THE NEGATIVE SELF TALK W ANCHORS – Determine your values & incorporate a stress management routine, keep it simple by adopting anchors examples: (exercise, meditation, hobbies, faith, a support unit, etc.).
Celebrating the cycle of small accomplished WINS keeps us going. Challenging yourself keeps you on the track on knowing yourself more and uncovering the layers within us that expose how we really evaluate ourselves. Don’t feel beat up, instead feel driven to deploy new actions and make them count. Remember, no one can take that away from you.
