Staying Committed to God's Word
“If you continue in My word, then you are truly My disciples” - John 8:31 NASB
As someone who follows Jesus, you've probably have made a commitment to read your Bible regularly. Maybe you started with the goal of reading it daily, and you did it for a week or a month. Jesus wants us to keep at it for the long run.
So, how do we stay connected with Jesus through the Bible consistently? Here are a few tips:
Decide to do it. Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Start today and make a firm commitment to include the study of God's Word in your daily routine.
Share your intentions. Tell your P4 or small group about your commitment. They can help hold you accountable. When you make it public, you're more likely to stick with it.
Stay determined. Don’t let anything sidetrack you from your commitment. Be steadfast and determined to make reading God's Word a permanent habit, especially in the beginning. If you miss a day, just get back on track the next day.

Find a partner. Look for someone who can join you on this journey. It could be a friend, a family member, or someone from your small group. Share what you learn and support each other. Remember, "Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed" (Ecclesiastes 4:9 NLT).
Spending time with God through His Word should not be a phase. It must be a lifelong habit. Research shows it takes about six weeks to build a habit. So, start making God's Word a part of your daily life now and continue for the rest of your life.
One more thing: don’t let failure end your commitment. If you experience a setback, figure out why, learn from it, make the necessary changes, and start again!
If you're serious about continuing in His Word for life, remember two things: growing as a disciple comes in seasons, and each season brings different experiences of faith. Jesus wants to be with you through all of it. He will often show you new truths from verses you thought you already knew. Don’t miss out on deepening your understanding and growing in your faith.
