At a recent workshop I facilitated for for mission-driven leaders, we focused on building thriving teams; we discussed how our beliefs affect the quality of our leadership, and ultimately our teammates and workplace culture.?
The holiday season is here—a time filled with joy, gatherings, and meaningful traditions. And for many this time of year brings stress and challenges. Balancing work deadlines, family commitments, and our own wellbeing can feel like a juggling act.
Where are You?? Are you Above the Line or Below the Line this season?
What does that mean? It’s a mindset shift—a commitment to responding to situations with ownership, accountability, and intentionality rather than reacting from a place of blame, defensiveness, or avoidance.
Here are a few strategies we can practice to stay above the line:
?? Set Intentional Boundaries: Say “yes” only to what aligns with our priorities and values.
??Choose Gratitude: Find moments to reflect on what we’re thankful for, even in the hustle.
?? Pause & Respond: Give ourselves space to reflect before reacting during tough conversations.
?? Communicate Clearly: Set expectations and expres needs with kindness and clarity.
?? Give Grace: To ourselves and others.
When we live Above the Line, we make choices that bring peace and clarity, allowing us to fully engage with the people and moments that matter most.
What helps you stay Above the Line during the holiday season? Share your thoughts in the comments!
Let’s finish the year strong, with intention and connection. ??
