Stay in Your Lane
Many times, in life we get consumed with a lot of things. Life has a tendency to weigh down even the strongest person. But what I have also discovered is that sometimes we get burdened down, take on too much, get burned out and easily distracted, or become overwhelmed because of lack of focus and not staying in our lane. Sometimes we lose focus on the lanes we are called to because we are too busy looking at someone else’s lane or taking on tasks we were not meant to carry. We can get caught up on comparing, admiring, or trying to evaluate someone else’s strengths and gifting rather than focus on our own. At times we lose focus because we are so driven by the bigger picture that it distracts us from concentrating on the little things, people, or steps that can lead to a successful bigger picture. Every person I know, including myself, has trouble consistently staying in their lane, focusing on their gifts, their doors, their lane, and ultimately recognizing the blessings that are right in front of them.

So, Don… What’s the word for today? So, prior to these verses below, Gideon was called by God to fight the 135,000 Midianites Army. Gideon had a small army of 32,000 in which God told him to lower it to only 300 fighting men. Gideon announced a battle plan to divide the army in three groups outside of the Midianites camp. He equipped each soldier with a trumpet and pitchers with torches. He told them to follow his lead when he blew his trumpet.
?
In Judges 7:20-21 it says: 20 The three fighting groups blew their trumpets. They smashed their jars. They held their torches in their left hands. They held in their right hands the trumpets they were going to blow. Then they shouted the battle cry, “A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!” 21 Each man stayed in his position around the camp. But all the Midianites ran away in fear. They were crying out as they ran. 22 When the 300 trumpets were blown, the Lord caused all the men in the enemy camp to start fighting one another. They attacked one another with their swords. The army ran away to Beth Shittah toward Zererah. They ran all the way to the border of Abel Meholah near Tabbath.

The key verse is: 21 Each Man stayed in his position around the camp!

So, what’s your point Don? The point is…
?
STAY IN YOUR LANE AND MIND YOUR BUSINESS! The soldiers could have questioned Gideon’s tactic. They could have looked at the vast numbers of the Midianite army and said, “This is ridiculous!” But they simply minded their business, focused on what they had, and stayed in their lane. Even though their tactics were unique, strange, and unorthodox, Gideon and the army stayed in their lane and used the gifts and the strengths they were given, which led to victory.
?So, the key to success and less stress is to mind your own business and stay in your lane. Use your God given abilities, don’t look to the left, don’t look to the right, but focus on the plan and the lane he has for you. Ignore the odds, the people, the chaotic situations around you. ?Mind your own business! If you do, your lane will lead you to victory!
