Stay True to Your Faith Without Isolating
"Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all." - Romans 12:16 NLT
We must never adopt a 'holier than thou' attitude.
We sometimes go to extremes. On one hand, there are those who isolate themselves, much like the Israelites building Jerusalem's walls to keep out 'worldly' influences. But what good is salt if it never leaves the shaker?
On the other hand, there are those who blend in so well with the world that they lose their distinctiveness as believers. They become like salt that has lost its flavor, trying to fit in so much that they lose what makes them unique in their faith.
What should be our approach? As Jesus said, we are to be salt and light. This means engaging with the world without detaching from it. Engage in genuine friendships with the people God has placed in your life—your coworkers, your neighbors, and others. You do not have to compromise your beliefs to connect with them.
Daniel in the Bible is a great example for us. He stood out because of his faith, yet he made a significant impact in a foreign land. He was in Babylon, but not of Babylon.
Let us go out into the world, staying true to our faith, and striving to make a difference in people's lives through meaningful relationships.
