Stay in Touch
It's been 4 months since starting with EIS. There was a lot to adapt to when starting a new company. I tried to keep the good habits and form better habits. Here are some things that I learned.
Working from home is not everyone expects it to be. There are multiple distractions...TV, laundry, social media and worst of all the couch. I'll be honest I can procrastinate with the best out there. I had to work on a lot of documentation on my laptop and did not have the self-discipline to do it at home. I invested in a portable monitor (ASUS ZenScreen MB16AC). It's connected via USB-C and compatible with both PC/MAC. I'm now able to work at any coffee shop with an extended desktop.
There has been some light travel. I still collect toiletries for my local organization. Speaking with a Precious Child, during the holiday season is when they need the most help. Reach out to a local organization to see if you can volunteer... donating time is enough.
When you leave a previous employer, you wonder who will keep in touch with you. Try to stay in contact via a group chat. WhatsApp has been the best, especially when you have colleagues from another country. You can access it via mobile and desktop. I received a postcard from the mail...yes a postcard, they still exist.
Thanks Chris! I told you I was going to write about you.
Tim had an extended weekend, I had to show him the best of what Colorado has to offer. We went shredding at Copper Mountain on opening day.
Colorado Dogs. You can find them everywhere. As pictured, you can see this good boy (he even has a work badge) patrolling through Copper with his soccer ball.
The Open Road. Driving through Colorado is a joy itself. The roads are wide, no pot holes, and calling them scenic is just underrated. Just don't go too fast...
Breweries. One of my favorite is in Golden called New Terrain Brewing Company. I try to take everyone there and so far have received zero complaints. The quote on the cup is perfect.
Don't lose your inner child when adulting. Remember when we used to say grown ups are boring...ask yourself if you are that somebody. Thank you for reading!
