Stay Safe Whilst Saving Space with Baltic Lifejackets

The problem with inherently buoyant lifejackets is that they are designed to be used only in an emergency situation. Whilst Baltic makes every effort to make them comfortable and the least restrictive, in this instance that is not a key priority.

In fact, it is the intention of the vessel owner that these lifejackets will hopefully never see the light of day. So, with that in mind the less space they take up the better.

In comparison to our competitors on the average size of cruise ship of 3000 guests, by making the switch to Baltic Lifejackets M.E.D./SOLAS Foam MK3, vessels owners will save 7.3m3 in space. This is the equivalent of:

  • 9733 75cl bottles
  • 86 pieces of the average storage box of 85L
  • 104 pieces typical luggage of 70L each item

Have we got your attention now?

All Baltic M.E.D. /SOLAS foam lifejackets are tested and approved to the latest standards, the Life Saving Appliance requirements of Marine Equipment Directive (MED) 96/98/EC (latest edition), ANNEX A.1, item A.1/1.4. They are further tested according to the international standard IMO Res MSC.81 (70) with resolution MSC. 200 (80).?

Baltic further conduct their own in-house testing to ensure they function perfectly. Tests include ease and quickness of donning and wearing in abandonment situations via evacuation chutes.
