In the past few days, we have noticed several scam attempts. Scammers are using a variety of methods to trick people, such as sending fake emails, creating fake profiles, and posing as Meta employees or even Meta customer support.

How to Protect Yourself from Scams and Phishing in Meta

Scams and phishing are a growing problem in the Metaverse. Here are some tips on how to protect yourself:


  • Do not click on links sent from people or organizations unless you are 100% confident that they are legitimate.
  • Be wary of any messages that ask for your personal information, such as your password or credit card number.
  • Meta support ticket replies always have a case id.
  • When you receive a reply from Meta support, you will also receive a notification via email.
  • A Meta support chat conversation?can not be marked as spam or get blocked.
  • Never click on links in emails or messages from people you don't know.
  • Do not open attachments from unknown senders.
  • Keep your software up to date, including your antivirus software.
  • If you are not sure if you are speaking with an official Meta employee you can ask for your case id and for an informational email that summarizes your conversation.
  • Use strong passwords and change them regularly.
  • Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) whenever possible.
  • Immediately report any suspicious activity to us or?Meta.
