Four months after it was announced, the government made the first formal move to introduce the country’s own vehicle safety rating system based on crash tests. The upcoming Bharat new car assessment program (NCAP) will be rolled out from April 1 next year (2023) and will mean auto manufacturers in India as well as importers will have the option of getting cars star rated within the country.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has discussed with a top official of the United Nations measures to promote road safety in the Philippines amid alarming data on road accidents in the country.

UN Global Road Safety Week takes place in May and the dates are announced by the U.N. closer to the time. This year, it takes place from May 12 to 16. The week was first marked in 2007. It was no longer observed until 2013, and it had been recorded every two years since then until 2019. It is a special global road safety campaign hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO) that aims to raise awareness about road safety and accident prevention.
8. Do daytime running lights improve road safety
Vehicles fitted with automatic daytime running lights (DRLs) are statistically more likely to avoid a visibility-based crash than cars without, according to a recent Australian study.
The study uses police data to estimate how much DRLs reduce the risk of being involved in a non-nighttime multi-car impact, in which vehicle visibility may be a factor in crash causation.
The results with confounding factors were taken into account. A “statistically significant” 8.8 percent reduction in risk, greater again at higher speeds and at both dawn and dusk compared to bright daylight.
Road safety is everyone's responsibility. Stay informed and stay safe. Let's work together to make our roads safer for all.
