Stay Focused On What You Can Control
As we step into the fall season, I wanted to share a personal experience from this week that serves as a timely reminder of an important lesson. I was scheduled to head out on a speaking tour this week in Louisiana, visiting high schools and middle schools, but unfortunately, the tour had to be canceled due to a tropical storm, which could escalate into a Category 1 hurricane. This change of plans was a great reminder that no matter how much we prepare, there will always be things beyond our control. It can be challenging to remember this in the moment, but it’s essential to acknowledge and accept it.

The unexpected is inevitable, but how we respond makes all the difference. Regarding my speaking tour, I am confident that it will be rescheduled at a later date, and I was grateful that the coordinator thoughtfully reached out to me on a Sunday, allowing me to cancel my travel plans in time. I trust and pray that everyone will remain safe from the storm. As you continue to navigate this school year, I encourage you to focus on what you can control and trust that you have the strength and resources to handle it.
Keep on shining your light!
