Stay curious

Stay curious

Innovation starts with mindset and the entrepreneurial mindset has many parts. It is different from the clinical mindset. Here are some rookie mindset mistakes.

Marcus Aurelius noted that "character is destiny". Character is part personality and part mindset i.e how you see the world, the stories, and beliefs you tell yourself, and how you respond to those outrageous slings and arrows of life.

Getting from said to done, however, means that you will have to practice entrepreneurial habits.

One habit is being curious to feed your growth mindset.

The benefits of curiosity are :

Fewer decision-making errors.

More innovation and positive changes in both creative and noncreative jobs.

Reduced group conflict.

More-open communication and better team performance.

Here is a five dimensional model of curiosity

So, what are some ways to unleash your curious side?

  1. Be like the kid you used to be, always asking why...at least 5 times.
  2. Hang around people who don't keep challenging or ridiculing your curiosity and get rid of the toxic ones who do
  3. When someone asks you to do something that is new or unfamiliar, always say yes and learn how to do it
  4. Pick parents who support your curiosity
  5. Expand your networks to people who know nothing about your industry and vice versa
  6. Go to salons where your ideas can have sex with other ideas
  7. Use Alexa to explain anything to you as soon as you hear about it. Are you curious about the the latest Kratum craze? When you seen an acronym in an article that is jargon and not previously explained, do you look it up?
  8. Hang around creatives or take classes from them
  9. When you take a vacation, leave at least one open day in your itinerary for happy accidents to happen because you were curious
  10. Turn off your smart phone, unless you need help from Alexa

11. When you meet someone, ask "Tell me about yourself"

12. Subscribe to newsletters from other countries , like Ghana

Take this one question quiz: How many of the 14 hyperlinks in this article did you read? How would you score your curiosity? How about your cat's curiosity (obvious click bait)?

Now senators are worried about the effect on algorithms on both adult and childhood curiosity.

Curiosity may have killed the cat but it gives birth to innovation. Try it today and be careful whether or where you buy Kratum.
