Learn how to detect and protect yourself from phishing attempts.
As scammers increase their efforts to steal personal and business information, you need to protect your business against these threats. To learn how to avoid phishing and other scams, review the information below.
But first, what is phishing?
Phishing is a technique scammers use to trick you, your employees, or your customers into revealing sensitive information or providing access to your files or data by creating fraudulent communications or websites that look reputable. Recently, scammers have been impersonating Facebook's business support team via Messenger and email.
Some tips on what to look out for and how to stay safe from potential phishers:
Slow down and check before engaging.
Look for any suspicious behaviors before accepting a friend request or responding to a message that claims to be a representative of a company, asks you for fees, and claims that your account is under threat of urgent deletion.
Spot-check.
Scammers often try to get people to act quickly. If you get a suspicious email or message claiming to be from Meta or other legitimate companies and institutions, verify the sender and don't click any links or attachments. You can verify if an email comes from Meta in your settings on?Facebook?and?Instagram.
