Statewide Plan Announced To Ban TikTok
Let’s talk TikTok, folks! And no, we won’t be talking about the latest dance trend, we are talking about the latest controversy over the privacy of this app. It has caused quite a stir in government offices where this app is now banned on all devices and has now caught the attention of State officials in Texas.?
Governor Greg Abbott has announced a statewide model security plan to address the "vulnerabilities presented by the use of TikTok and other software" on state-issued and personal devices. The plan, developed by the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Department of Information Resources, aims to guide state agencies in managing these devices and keeping sensitive information secure.
"We must not underestimate the security risks associated with TikTok," says Governor Abbott. "Owned by a Chinese company and employing Chinese Communist Party members, the app harvests a significant amount of data from a user's device."?

Governor Abbott has made it clear that the threat posed by the Chinese government is growing and that the state has the authority to protect itself.?
So, there you have it! TikTok is being officially banned in Texas government offices. Who knew the app that once had us all doing the ‘Renegade’ could now be considered such a security threat?
