Justice for Minors supports Ukraine and asks Stop the War! Protect the Children!

#stopthewar #callforpeace

18th of March, 2022

Justice for Minors?team advocates for human rights and it is involved in children's rights, crossborder family disputes and child abduction projects, research and legislation reform initiatives.

Through our Activities, we the aim to bring a positive transformation to Romanian and European legislation and to support the cooperation between authorities, institutions and organisations at national and international level.

Following the latest developments of the conflict between Russia and?Ukraine, Justice for Minors NGO has issued the following statement:

“We are absolutely concerned about the unprovoked attack on Ukraine and threat against humanity. A threat that disregards the right to life and the right to live in peace. Millions of children are living now in fear and after the first week of war, already 1 million of Ukrainians have fled their own country, leaving behind their homes, husbands and fathers. There is a clear fault of democracy and children’s lives are being put at risk.

Therefore, JFM is strongly calling for peaceful and diplomatic mediation between the parties into this conflict: a still soviet Russia and a free and sovereign Ukraine.?There is no other way to solve a conflict in our modern civilization than dialogue and peace. This is unacceptable and shatters the foundational principles and values of international law that have kept peace and prosperity for many generations in Europe. It takes us back to the darkest moments of European history. Putin has to be stopped, arrested and prosecuted against war crime and crime against humanity. Murder and destructions cannot be at any time the right solutions.

We stand in solidarity with all victims of the war and feel devastated knowing that the lives of millions of children are being put at risk. Our hearts are with all children and families that had to leave behind fathers, brothers and family.

We emphasise that children are protected and raise the alarm over the particular situation of children in institutions with no parental care.

We are keen to help and act!?Justice for Minors with other NGOs acted quickly to ensure that refugee families arriving in Romania have access to safe shelter, food and medical care, and we emphasise on the urgent need for psychosocial assistance and legal advice in a language they can understand.

Freedom is a unique value, the loss of which is felt most sorely by nations who are deprived of it. Let us keep the world a place where international justice applies to all nations and countries.

Our thoughts are with Ukrainian people, everyone suffering from the invasion, and everyone mobilizing to support Ukraine. We also hope that families and children in Russia have the protection and support they need.?JFM calls for an immediate cease fire, and for peaceful solutions to be found.

We are committed to help the children who are facing great risks- the abandoned and orphans, children forced to be separated by their parents, because most vulnerable and without parental care they are at a heightened risk of violence, abuse and exploitation.

Together with other international organisations, we commit to promote children’s rights and support the international community in protecting children life and wellbeing.”
