Statement by Dr. Rajiv. J. Shah, President of The Rockefeller Foundation, on the FDA Approval of Moderna’s Covid-19 Vaccine under EUA

As 2020 comes to close, it’s heartening that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted an emergency authorization for Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine. Finally bringing an end to this pandemic will require an equitable distribution of vaccines and tests, like the plan The Rockefeller Foundation released last week to open the nation’s public schools for the Spring semester. By making the most of advances like vaccines, breakthroughs in test production, and what we’ve learned over the last year, we can finally end the pandemic for everyone.
