The State of Your Mind & Therefore Your Contentment is Up To You
Today we are going to be talking to something which is rather confounding in most human beings today - especially those who live in the US and many of the so-called Western countries. That is the whole notion of being so self-absorbed that we create all sorts of reasons why it is that we are depressed, we are anxious, why we have ADD/ADHD, why it is that other people make us feel so miserable…yet, never realizing that it is all in our own heads.
You see the human animal, and we are indeed animals as we are not plants or minerals - yet, unlike the other species we have this thing called a ‘memory’ and inside our memory, we are capable of ‘imagining’ all sort of terrible things that occurred during our lives - or for those who love the feeling of anxiety - worrying about what will never be - but that has been presented as a real problem, yet to arise, usually because of someone else’s actions or inactions. Yet in 80% of cases the thing that has been worried about for sometimes years at a time, never comes to pass and all that negative emotion has been wasted on it.
The idea that you are different from anyone else in that you have had so many more horrid situations than others, so seeping yourself in misery is your ‘right’ is also misunderstanding that the only person who is keeping you in the misery is yourself and the 'importance' that you are giving to whatever those situations are that you keep recreating in your imagination.
It isn’t to say that you may not have been through some challenging times, and there isn’t anyone over the age of 10 who hasn’t had something negative occur in their life, and by the age of 18, most likely several negative incidents that one has had to live through. These challenges come up for everyone - just in different ways around different areas of life - so relationships (feeling unsafe, feeling distrustful, feeling too many burdens by the responsibility for others sometimes at an alarmingly young age, etc), money, health, feeling empty, etc.
Now, this is the reality for anyone who is willing to truly understand it: the only person who has control over your feelings is you. The only person who is responsible for any reactions, responses, or restraint (taking no action because there are things about the situation that you have yet to realize) would be you. It is up to you to govern your own sense of self, your own capacity to let go of the 'importance' on memories that may not even be real because our unconscious mind is rather terrible at recording them exactly right for all the stimuli that needs to be removed or we would all most certainly go insane.
So, to rely on one’s memories of what may have happened and puts you in a negative emotional space which then brings up limiting beliefs - all those negative beliefs that keep you from moving your life ahead because you are oh so certain that these things you imagine you are incapable of doing - degrading your life more and more every day.
Instead, you have learned from anything that I have written if you have been read my content you would understand that we human beings can indeed shift our emotions and shift our beliefs if we so choose.
It is a matter of focusing on what you wish to create and realizing that no one has the authority to govern one's emotions if one disallows that from occurring - and my suggestion is for you to stop allowing that to occur because it is very much in your own control.
It is as easy as putting your thoughts and emotions into that which you want to create in your life, and then taking the necessary actions to allow these things to show up in your life.
However, if you continue to focus on what may have been (in the past done to you) or what may be happening in the future that you feel you have no control over, yet it has yet to happen) you will surely continue to have a depressing life as you suck all the exuberance out of yourself.
It is much healthier and dare I say, fulfilling to find something that you care about much more than your own problems - something that will make the world better for your having been here. Once you do that you will find that many of the negative ‘memories’ and the ‘images’ attached to them from the past will disappear as will the negativity that they bring with them. It is simply a matter of a shift in mindset.
Because, I can tell you this: some of the most successful people who have done the most important work in the sciences, technology, the arts, and other areas of creation have also had the most to overcome. They learned what they needed to from their past experiences and left them in the past where they belong focusing on their vision of what they wanted to bring to life. And, so it can be true for you - because the bottom line is that it all depends on where you choose to put your focus - it really is as simple as that…
Learning: We all have the ability to let go of the ‘memories’ of our past and instead focus on where we want our lives to go - keeping the vision in front of us, taking action every day. It is a choice, our choice, and only our choice - so the bottom line is that the quality of your life remains on and with you. Choose wisely
