State of Housing Florida Housing Coalition Report

State of Housing Florida Housing Coalition Report

On February 26, the Florida Housing Coalition released “Home Matters for Florida Report 2019” in support of a national “Home Matters” initiative to educate the public and policymakers about the value of housing when it comes to health, education and the economy.

On August 26, 2019, while attending the Florida Housing Coalition Conference in Orlando, Florida with about 900 advocates and supporters of affordable housing, we learned about many various initiatives by public and private sector on affordable housing, heard from key leaders about the critical needs of affordable housing with partnering across all sectors and a jam packed agenda of relevant information and trainings to enlighten and educate us all on why does home matter.

Why Does Home Matter?

The health, safety, and welfare of Floridians and the strength of Florida’s overall economy hinges on an adequate supply of affordable housing for Florida’s working families, elders, and people with disabilities living on fixed incomes.

Housing is more than just a roof over our heads. Our house and apartments are where we take refuge from the bustle and stress of public life, share meals with family and friends, and store our belongings. Our housing is also a base from which we search for jobs, find good schools for our children, and put down roots in our communities. In short, our housing is where we make our home.

If you are a part of the housing industry in any way shape or form I encourage you take a moment and visit Flhousing.org and read the report. You can get to the report by clicking this link: https://www.flhousing.org/home-matters-for-florida-report/. Once at the site, in the upper right ribbon click on Publications and once there scroll down to the Florida Home Matters Report. It is about 23 pages long and extremely well put together ,

And, if you are a realtor, builder, lender or any part of the housing industry I encourage you to join the Coalition and be a part of helping solve the affordable housing needs of our state.
