State Farm awarded, a mother empowered, and hope in spring storms
Greetings from the Convoy of Hope team! Whether your spring has been full and eventful or the complete opposite, we are beyond grateful that you would take the time to share this space with us today. This week, we’re covering State Farm’s partnership, preparing you for spring storms, and empowering mothers.
State Farm awarded
What comes to mind when you see a red polo shirt and khaki pants?
You guessed it — it’s State Farm!
Convoy of Hope recently presented State Farm with our 2023 Leadership Award for their selfless assistance to Convoy and service to the poor and suffering. While at the World Distribution Center, they packed 558 flood recovery buckets that Convoy will use for future disaster responses.
“At State Farm, part of our mission is to help people recover from the unexpected,” said Scott Carmack, State Farm Agency Sales Leader. “We strive to be a force for good by encouraging State Farm employees and agents to support the communities where they live and work. We are grateful to work alongside Convoy of Hope.”?
This year, State Farm donated nearly $500,000 to support Convoy of Hope’s disaster preparedness and response efforts. Included in this total was $50,000 designated for Convoy’s Hurricane Idalia response and $100,000 for the Maui wildfires.
Convoy of Hope collaborated with State Farm to put on 21 packing events across the United States, packing 15,000 hygiene kits for our responses.

Empowering mothers
The joys and challenges of motherhood are common threads between people who may have nothing else in common. Today, we want to share Victoria’s story and how she overcame her circumstances to change the narrative of her and her family’s life.?
Before Victoria met Convoy of Hope, she dealt with heavy postpartum depression following the birth of her youngest daughter. This left her feeling isolated, lonely, and hopeless.
When Victoria joined Convoy of Hope's Women's Empowerment program, she participated in a Family Health Empowerment group with other mothers, and she learned various skills about childhood development, literacy, nutrition, and more.

“I feel that I am a better mother for my daughters. I am putting into practice what I’ve learned,” Victoria shared.?
At Convoy of Hope, we see time and time again that investing in women through our Women’s Empowerment initiative has a direct, positive impact on their communities.
Studies show that when women are given the opportunity to work and use their skills, they invest 90 percent of their income back into their family, compared to 35% for men (UN Report). This is no exaggeration when we say that by investing in women, you invest in the health and future of these communities.
If you are looking for opportunities to empower women around the world, visit here to see how you can partner with Convoy:Women today. While you’re at it, we’d encourage you to follow @convoywomen for more stories of women being empowered all over the world.
Spring storms
Be on the lookout this month for spring storms as temperatures start rising and we head toward the summer months. Since the beginning of 2024, Convoy has responded to nine domestic disasters in 11 states — serving more than 47,000 people and distributing more than 1.1 million pounds of essential supplies.?
We want to help you protect yourself and your loved ones during a disaster through a few simple steps:?
