Starvation is No solution for Weight Loss

Starvation is No solution for Weight Loss

Weight loss means starvation. Most of us have this misconception that if we want to lose weight, the best way to do it is to stop eating and starve ourselves. However, that’s not at all correct. We cannot starve our car of fuel and then expect it to run efficiently. Similar is the case with our body. Food is fuel for our body and successful weight loss is not about famishing, it’s about fueling your body with the healthy, low calorie food.

Eating too few calories in an effort to shed pounds is not healthy, no matter how effective way it may be. When you deprive yourself of food, your body goes into starvation mode to conserve energy and you may find yourself experiencing a weight loss plateau, needless to mention the health predicaments you may face because of insufficient supply of nutrients to your body.

Your body may also turn to lean muscle mass for energy in order to conserve its valuable fat stores, just in case it doesn't receive more food anytime soon.

In some instances, a very low calorie diet of fewer than 800 calories per day may be prescribed by a doctor if the patient has a significant amount of weight to lose. The diet, which comprises of specially formulated liquid shakes and bars, is meant to kick-start weight loss for obese people who may experience complications, like high blood pressure, because of their excess weight. It is recommended that you undertake these diets under medical supervision to avoid health hazards like fatigue, nausea, constipation, diarrhoea and even gallstones.
