Telling people what they want to hear is tempting and seems easy.

For those in the startup world, you rarely get a venture funded without telling investors what they want to hear. This is a delicate balance between always staying grounded in truth while getting investors excited about the future of the venture.

Once launched, maintaining excitement is important but being brutally honest internally and with your backers is key, specifically about the real challenges you encounter. You avoid the trap of building unrealistic expectations that become unmanageable and by properly informing your backers, can get their help in solving your challenges.
